Like Mike, Gone Are The Days.
Gone Are The Days.
Like the title, gone are those days we actually appreciate any Jordan releases.
Michael Jordan's last game was the Nba All-Star game 12 years ago and he never came back even though there were speculation he would return at the age of 50. Lets face it. Its not happening . He rather be playing golf and lighting cigars away like candles.
This the problem. He isn't playing anymore. We can only appreciate his Chicago Bulls days through Dvd's, youtube clips or even keeping pairs that he wore in certain game doing special things. Unfortunately, this isn't what people think now. The moment any Jordan releases are announced, resellers are going all out to make a quick buck. Sitting behind the screens taking pre-orders above retail, lining up at 3-4 in the morning just to seal their spot so they can go back and start selling. Where are those days where anyone could just go into the store and purchase a pair of Space Jam's for retail without all these craze?
I know my rant here isn't changing anything but I am entitled to my own thoughts. Nike knows we as consumers are going to continue buying . Kudos to Nike for hearing us out when we ask for old models to retro.
But resellers? Why not get a job? Why take advantage of young ones when you know they are going to put it on their feet? Does it make you feel good to make a quick buck out of someone who has been longing to get a pair but doesn't quite have the budget to afford it at your price?
And its because of you, you implement ideas like these into the younger ones that they get an entirely distorted view of collecting sneakers. Spending their parent's hard earn money to buy shoes to flip for extra. I be more than happy to rock my stuff, looking fine with buttoned-ups and shorts or jeans or what not at that age. Gone are the days.
Questions like these already have an answer. Like global warming, we are all told to adapt to it. You can only lessen it, but you can't stop it. And its because of this, I decided to look elsewhere. If I can't get it at its original price, I am moving on. They say the sneaker game has changed. I agree. But I will say this, if this doesn't come to an end, you can be damn sure I be saving a huge amount and spending on something else that will make me just as happy.
Maybe one day these people will come around. Maybe. Till then, lets hope for the better.
Hopping out.
